Attention the World

I have just read about a woman getting the sack over her blog site-she had references to her working life on it. She (and her blog) is now relatively famous, and she has received a book offer over the whole thing.

As a book offer is not likely to come my way, I am now going to have to delete all the posts talking about my work.

The Cleaning Frenzy continues…..

30 July, 2006 at 2:14 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 Comments

My Daughter (Natasza), has told me she would like to clean my car twice a week. And her mother’s car twice a week. I gently disuaded her from making promises that would ensure she has no free time for the rest of her life (she’s 6). But I relented and let her wash my car today, even though it is not warm outside, and I get carwashes for free….but as I said, she’s 6, and wants to help (and, as she watches me writing this blog, she reminds me that pocket money is to be paid for services rendered).

So I part with $2 (Tight-ass, aren’t I? I did ask her what she thought washing my car was worth, and she only asked for a dollar, so a 100% increase in requested remuneration is fair, don’t you think?), and the car is washed with vivaciousness and abundant enthusiasm.

I’m happy.

Except with WordPress. Why does it take SO FREAKIN’ LONG to get photo’s to show properly?

Pre-Spring Spring Clean

Yesterday was a glorious day; sunshine, gentle breeze, temperature in the low-mid teens (C) and a filthy house.

It’s now clean. Cupboards scrubbed, floors vacuumed, fridge cleaned , sheets changed etc. etc.

I forgot how much damage kids can do in half an hour…..(I’ve spent half an hour trying to upload a picture of my lounge room, with the couch and chairs relocated, and a collection of blankets spread between them in the attempt to create a tent. With Blankets and matresses and pillows, the lounge now looks a shambles, but the picture turns into a pixelated mess-it looks like my whole lounge room is a sexual predator on TV….. Maybe I should change my blogname….)

Now it’s working. Stupid thing. I hate computers….

Oliver, the most repeated film this week….

21 July, 2006 at 9:56 am | Posted in Kidlets | 1 Comment

One of the all-time classic movies is getting Acute Over-use Injury in my house: I have a two year old constantly saying “Daddy, I watch O’iffer” (Daddy, may I please watch Oliver again?”

And whilst I know things are going to get worse before they get better, the repetition of things like movies/songs etc. is going to drive me nuts. Especially when daughter starts getting a cd collection of her own, and a stereo to go with it (I can only hope her love for loud music isn’t as developed as mine was-I can’t cope with doof-doof at top volume for any time at all, really)

Maybe I should ban doof-doof from my house? But no, I think I will invest in a set of decent quality headphones and an iPod or something…I at least leave the loud music to when I am not inflicting my taste in music on too many others, and as you can see by the photo two posts previous, I live in a fairly (understatement) remote area, surrounded by nothing but sheep, cows and horses. And Megz (the next door neighbour) who is apparently deaf, as she claims to have not heard me playing guitar along with Slash at several hundred decibels (it’s amazing how much volume you can get out of a 30w amplifier, in a tiny loungeroom).

And on that, I know Behringer are cheap, but the qualitly of sound and the analogue modelling on their amps is really quite good. I have heard that their stomp boxes are shite, but as I don’t use them, I don’t care!!!
